Our textiles and archives are displayed at the museum CAMÉE. The collection of ninety-five (95) antique pagnes provide a rich selection of different historic themes: each piece tells of the African fascination with beauty, richness, the exquisite - - in one word, splendor.   The method or manor of weaving the pagne also testifies to the passion and sense of enterprise maintained by Wolof women, from the beginning, by managing and selecting the raw materials, hovering over the weavers in their private courtyards during production.   Multiple themes can be attributed to an array of pagnes, which ceremoniously bridge birth to death; present at conception and baptism of the infant, integrally linked to the rites of other life markers such as circumcision and manhood initiation,  maturity and marriage, and finally funerals, which end the particular cycle.
